Marion Township, MI (November 18, 2021) - Police believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in a fatal three-car accident in Marion Township on Tuesday, November 16th. at about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021.
The collision took place at about 7:00 p.m. on Pinckney Road in the area of Coon Lake Road.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, a 2013 Mazda 3 driven by a 50-year-old Pinckney resident was traveling southbound on Pinckney Road when it drifted across the centerline, sideswiped an oncoming 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 31-year-old resident of Howell, and then collided head-on with a 2015 Ford Focus driven by a 25-year-old woman, also from Pinckney.
The driver of the Mazda 3 died on impact.
The driver of the Focus was transported by paramedics to the University of Michigan Medical Center with injuries classified as severe but non-life-threatening.
The occupants of the Chevrolet Tahoe were unharmed during the crash.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Michigan State Police Brighton Post, Livingston County EMS, and Howell Area Fire Department.
This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
