Pedestrian Accidents in Michigan

Macomb Township, MI – Pedestrian Struck at Hayes Rd and Van Meter DrPedestrian-related accidents are a serious concern throughout Michigan. In 2023, the state recorded more than 1,700 pedestrian-involved crashes, many of which resulted in serious or life-threatening injuries. These types of incidents are especially dangerous because pedestrians have no protection during impact. Accidents often happen in crosswalks, at intersections, or in poorly lit areas. Victims frequently require emergency care, long recovery periods, and ongoing support.

If you or someone you love has been hit by a vehicle, here are some key things to understand:

  • High Risk of Serious Injury: Pedestrian accidents often lead to head trauma, broken bones, spinal cord injuries, or internal bleeding. Even low-speed impacts can result in long-term consequences that affect mobility, employment, and quality of life.
  • Drivers Often Fail to Yield: Many pedestrian accidents occur when drivers fail to yield the right of way at crosswalks or while turning. Distractions like texting, speeding, or impaired driving only increase the risk.
  • Time-Sensitive Evidence: Skid marks, surveillance footage, and eyewitness accounts are all time-sensitive forms of evidence. The sooner a legal team begins an investigation, the stronger the case tends to be.
  • Medical Expenses Can Escalate Quickly: From ambulance rides to surgeries and rehabilitation, the cost of medical care after being hit by a car can be staggering. These expenses can be recovered through legal action, especially when another party was at fault.
  • Insurance Challenges Are Common: Pedestrian injury claims often involve complex negotiations with auto insurance carriers. Having an experienced attorney helps ensure the process is handled correctly and that you receive full and fair compensation.

If you or a family member were injured while walking, it’s critical to speak with a Macomb Township pedestrian accident attorney as soon as possible. Legal help can ensure your rights are protected and that you're not left to deal with insurance companies on your own.
