Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI – Crash Reported on N Chevrolet Ave Leaves InjuriesEach year, thousands of individuals across Michigan are injured in motor vehicle crashes. According to the Michigan State Police, there were more than 282,000 crashes across the state in a recent year. Of those, nearly 51,000 involved injuries. Urban areas tend to see a higher frequency of accidents due to increased traffic volume, distractions, and speeding. Many of these crashes occur during the evening hours, just like the one reported in Flint.

When it comes to motor vehicle accidents, it's important to understand how injury types can vary. Here are several common types of injuries crash victims often endure:

  • Whiplash and Soft Tissue Damage: One of the most frequent injuries in collisions, whiplash happens when the neck snaps forward and backward suddenly. This can cause ligament tears, chronic pain, and restricted mobility, even in low-speed impacts. Soft tissue injuries can also affect the back, shoulders, and legs, resulting in soreness and longer healing periods.
  • Concussions and Head Trauma: Even with airbags, vehicle occupants are at risk of hitting their heads on the interior of the car or being jolted suddenly. This can lead to mild or severe traumatic brain injuries. Concussions may cause headaches, memory issues, and difficulty concentrating for weeks or longer.
  • Fractures and Broken Bones: High-impact crashes frequently lead to broken arms, legs, ribs, or facial bones. These injuries may require surgeries, casts, and months of rehabilitation. In more serious cases, the damage may be permanent or affect the ability to return to work.
  • Back and Spinal Injuries: The force of a collision can damage the vertebrae or spinal cord, leading to nerve pain, herniated discs, or even paralysis. Some back injuries take months to diagnose and treat properly, impacting quality of life and the ability to perform daily tasks.
