Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint City, MI – Crash Reported at N Saginaw St and E Fifth AveEach year, thousands of Michigan residents are injured in motor vehicle collisions. In a recent report, more than 293,000 crashes occurred statewide, with over 51,000 resulting in injuries. These numbers reflect the daily risks drivers face, from congested city intersections to rural highways.

Many crash victims experience an overlooked issue: dealing with property damage after an accident. Here’s what to know:

  • Vehicle Repair Delays: Insurance companies don’t always move quickly, especially when it comes to sending out adjusters or authorizing repairs. This can leave victims without reliable transportation for days or even weeks.
  • Rental Car Confusion: Many drivers believe rental coverage is automatic, only to find they don’t have that benefit or face strict limits on the rental period. This can complicate daily routines and increase out-of-pocket expenses.
  • Diminished Vehicle Value: Even after repairs, a car’s market value may drop due to its accident history. This is known as diminished value, and many people aren’t aware they can pursue a claim for this type of loss.
  • Insurance Disputes: Disagreements about repair quality, part replacements, or total loss declarations are common. Some insurance providers may push for cheaper fixes or undervalue the damage, leaving drivers frustrated.
  • Out-of-Pocket Costs: Deductibles, towing, and storage fees can quickly add up, especially if there's a delay in processing claims. These expenses can cause additional stress during an already difficult time.
