Lansing, MI - Police Chase Ends in Multi-Car Wreck on Cedar St

Lansing, MI (April 11, 2025) – A police pursuit that began in Livingston County led to a multi-vehicle crash at a busy Lansing intersection on Wednesday evening, April 9. Michigan State Police confirmed that the incident began when deputies attempted to pull over a vehicle believed to be stolen.

The pursuit began just before 5:30 p.m. in Livingston County when the driver of the suspected stolen car refused to stop. Deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office initiated the chase, which quickly made its way into Ingham County. Local officers joined in as the fleeing driver continued into Lansing.

The pursuit came to a chaotic end when the suspect vehicle collided with other cars at the intersection of Cedar Street and Jolly Road. Authorities said at least four vehicles were involved in the resulting crash. After the impact, those inside the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded, including Lansing Police, Lansing Fire Department, Brighton Police, and Livingston County deputies. Details regarding the number or severity of injuries have not been confirmed, but paramedics were seen treating individuals at the scene. At least one person was transported to a local hospital for further medical care. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the crash and the suspects involved in the chase.

We hope those injured in this accident recover quickly and fully.

Car Accidents in Michigan

Lansing, MI - Police Chase Ends in Multi-Car Wreck on Cedar StAcross Michigan, car accidents remain a significant concern—especially in urban areas where police pursuits and traffic congestion often overlap. The Michigan State Police reported over 50,000 injury-causing crashes in recent years, many of which were preventable. While officers work to keep communities safe, high-speed pursuits can sometimes lead to dangerous collisions.

Let’s explore the types of damages victims often face after being involved in multi-vehicle crashes like this one:

  • Medical Expenses: Following a crash, victims may require emergency care, surgeries, physical therapy, and ongoing treatment. These costs can quickly become overwhelming, especially if insurance coverage is limited or contested.
  • Lost Wages and Income: Injuries often prevent people from returning to work right away. Lost income, combined with medical costs, puts added financial strain on victims and their families.
  • Vehicle and Property Damage: Multiple-car accidents usually result in extensive damage to the vehicles involved. Even if you're not at fault, repairing or replacing your car can be a hassle—especially if insurance companies dispute claims.
  • Pain and Suffering: Physical injuries are just one part of the equation. Victims often face anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress after serious crashes. These emotional impacts can last long after physical wounds have healed.
  • Loss of Enjoyment of Life: When injuries limit your ability to engage in day-to-day activities, hobbies, or family events, it deeply affects quality of life. Compensation can help account for this loss and provide for long-term adjustments.
