Car Accidents in Michigan

Detroit, MI - Injuries Reported in Crash on Justine StEvery year, drivers across Michigan face thousands of traffic accidents that result in injuries. The Michigan State Police reported more than 280,000 crashes in a recent year, with injury crashes making up a significant portion. Detroit, as one of the busiest metropolitan areas in the state, often sees elevated traffic volumes and risk of collisions.

It’s important to understand the challenges that can follow an accident. Here are a few common long-term effects of car crash injuries:

  • Chronic Pain and Mobility Limitations: Injuries like herniated discs, torn ligaments, and joint damage can lead to lasting pain that affects everyday life. Even after the initial recovery, many victims find they can no longer perform tasks the way they once could, which can impact work, family life, and emotional health.
  • Cognitive and Neurological Issues: Head trauma during a crash may lead to concentration problems, memory loss, or even personality changes. These symptoms can take time to emerge and may require neurological evaluations and rehabilitation.
  • Psychological Distress: Depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder are all common after serious accidents. Emotional recovery is just as important as physical healing and can take months or even years, especially for those involved in traumatic or life-threatening collisions.
  • Financial Instability: The combined costs of treatment, lost wages, therapy, and vehicle damage can create overwhelming debt. This stress can hinder recovery and put pressure on families trying to manage expenses while caring for an injured loved one.
  • Loss of Independence: For some, injuries are so severe that they require long-term care or make it difficult to return to independent living. Everyday routines may be altered permanently, affecting a person’s quality of life.
