Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI – Crash Near I-475 and I-69 Leaves Victims InjuredAcross Michigan, crashes involving motor vehicles continue to be a serious issue. Data from the Michigan State Police shows that there were more than 293,000 traffic accidents in the state in a recent year, resulting in over 70,000 injuries. These incidents can take place on highways, local roads, and even residential streets, often leaving lasting impacts on those involved.

Motor vehicle collisions can lead to a range of hardships for victims and families. Here are some common injuries seen in these types of crashes:

  • Whiplash and Neck Injuries: Whiplash is one of the most common outcomes of rear-end crashes. The sudden motion of the head snapping forward and back can lead to neck pain, stiffness, and limited mobility that may last for weeks or even longer.
  • Back and Spinal Cord Trauma: Injuries to the back, such as herniated discs or damage to the spinal cord, can severely affect mobility and quality of life. These injuries may require long-term rehabilitation or, in serious cases, result in permanent disability.
  • Broken Bones: Fractures in the arms, legs, ribs, or pelvis are frequent in high-speed collisions. Healing can take several months and might require surgery or extensive physical therapy, depending on the severity.
  • Head and Brain Injuries: Concussions and traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) are serious and can be difficult to detect immediately. Symptoms might not appear right away, and these types of injuries often require close medical observation.
  • Internal Organ Damage: Even when external wounds are not visible, a crash can cause damage to internal organs, leading to life-threatening complications. These injuries demand immediate and often intensive medical care.
