Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint Twp., MI – Crash at Riverforest Dr & Beecher Rd Leaves at Least One HurtMotor vehicle crashes in Michigan remain a significant public concern, with thousands of accidents occurring across the state every year. In 2022 alone, Michigan reported over 293,000 crashes, resulting in more than 70,000 injuries. While some collisions result in minor scrapes, others leave victims with life-changing trauma. These accidents can occur on busy highways or quieter suburban roads—and far too often, they result from careless or reckless driving behavior.

When these accidents happen, it's essential for drivers and passengers to know what risks may arise. Below are some common types of injuries victims suffer after a crash:

  • Whiplash and Soft Tissue Damage: Rear-end collisions often cause whiplash, which is a rapid back-and-forth movement of the neck. It can result in neck stiffness, headaches, and shoulder pain. Even mild crashes can lead to soft tissue injuries that require physical therapy.
  • Broken Bones: The force of a crash can easily cause fractures. Broken arms, legs, ribs, and facial bones are common. These injuries can take weeks or months to heal and may require surgery or immobilization.
  • Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): A sudden impact can cause the brain to move within the skull, resulting in concussions or more severe TBIs. Victims may face memory issues, mood changes, and long-term cognitive challenges.
  • Internal Injuries: Not all injuries are visible. Organ damage or internal bleeding can be life-threatening if not treated immediately. Emergency care is critical for identifying and treating these hidden injuries.
  • Spinal Cord Damage: Spinal injuries can range from herniated discs to permanent paralysis. Immediate medical intervention is vital, and long-term care is often required, depending on the severity.
