Car Accidents in Michigan

Flint, MI – Crash with Injuries Reported at Dupont St & W Dewey StIn Michigan, car crashes remain a daily occurrence, with thousands of injuries reported each year. Data from 2022 shows over 70,000 injury-related accidents across the state. These incidents happen in urban centers and residential neighborhoods alike, often resulting in injuries that can take weeks or even months to heal.

In the moments after a crash, having reliable information can help victims take the right steps. Below are some key things you should avoid doing after a car accident:

  • Don’t Leave the Scene: Even if the crash seems minor, leaving the scene without checking for injuries or exchanging information can lead to legal consequences. It’s important to remain where you are, contact authorities, and wait for help to arrive.
  • Avoid Admitting Fault: Emotions can run high after an accident, but avoid making statements like “I’m sorry” or “It was my fault.” These can be taken as admissions of liability. It’s best to stick to the facts when speaking with police or other drivers.
  • Don’t Skip Medical Care: Many people avoid going to the hospital because they “feel fine,” but not all injuries are immediately visible. Delayed symptoms from internal injuries or concussions can appear hours or days later. A medical record also supports any future insurance or legal claim.
  • Avoid Speaking to Insurance Alone: Insurance companies may contact you quickly for a statement or settlement. It’s a good idea to speak with a lawyer first. They can help ensure your rights are protected and you don’t accept less than you deserve.

If you've been involved in a crash, it’s wise to speak with a Flint car accident attorney as soon as possible. Whether it’s gathering evidence, handling insurer negotiations, or pursuing legal claims, a lawyer can be your guide through an overwhelming process. Timely legal help can improve your chances of a fair recovery.
