Ash Twp., MI (March 22, 2025) - A crash involving a pedestrian occurred on Thursday night in Ash Township, Monroe County. According to the Michigan State Police Monroe Post, troopers were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. on March 20 following reports of a car vs. pedestrian incident on Telegraph Road near Carleton Rockwood Road.
Initial findings indicate that a black Ford Escape, driven by a 39-year-old woman from Carleton, was heading north on Telegraph Road when the vehicle struck a pedestrian walking in or near the roadway. The pedestrian, a 31-year-old man also from Carleton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with investigators. Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash at this time.
Telegraph Road was closed for several hours as troopers from the Michigan State Police conducted a detailed investigation. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Ash Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and Michigan Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
