Orion Twp., MI (March 21, 2025) - A motorcycle accident in Orion Township claimed the life of a rider on the evening of March 20. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Lapeer Road and Morgan Hill Drive.
According to reports from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 48-year-old woman from Lake Orion Village was riding a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHX motorcycle northbound on Lapeer Road when a 42-year-old man from Royal Oak, driving a 2020 Dodge Caravan, failed to yield while entering the roadway from Morgan Hill Drive. The motorcycle collided with the driver's side of the van, leading to severe injuries for the rider.
Deputies at the scene attempted lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Officials confirmed that she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
