Howell, MI (March 15, 2025) – A 14-year-old girl was critically injured in a crash near downtown Howell on Tuesday afternoon, prompting an emergency response from multiple agencies.
The collision occurred at approximately 3:39 p.m. at the intersection of East Grand River Avenue and National Street. Howell Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of an injury accident in which CPR was in progress. According to investigators, a Jeep driven by a 19-year-old Howell resident was traveling eastbound on Grand River Avenue when it failed to stop for a red light at National Street. The Jeep then collided with a Chrysler Pacifica that was heading northbound on National.
Inside the Pacifica were a 42-year-old Howell resident, a 14-year-old girl, and an infant boy. All three occupants were transported to Mott Children’s Hospital for treatment, with the teenager listed in critical condition. The driver and infant were reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was taken to Trinity Hospital – Howell for care. The crash caused the intersection of Grand River Avenue and National Street to be closed for about two hours as officials worked to investigate and clear the scene. The Howell Police Department received assistance at the scene from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Howell Area Fire Department, and Livingston County EMS.
