Bedford Twp., MI – Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Smith Rd

Bedford Twp., MI (November 18, 2024) - A fatal pedestrian accident reported in Monroe County claimed the life of a 43-year-old woman. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, November 16.

Reports show that a woman was walking in the area of Smith Road and Telegraph Road in Bedford Township during the evening hours. As she proceeded down the eastbound side of the roadway while traveling on the shoulder, a vehicle traveling eastbound struck her. After the impact, the woman came to rest on both the east and westbound sides of the road. The involved vehicle fled the scene. While lying in the road, the woman was struck a second time by a westbound Honda Accord. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. A Nissan Sentra traveling through the area then struck the pedestrian one additional time. The woman was severely hurt in the accident and subsequently pronounced deceased from her injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
