Car Accidents in Michigan

Mt. Morris Twp., MI – Auto Wreck on N Saginaw St near W Princeton AveEach year, tens of thousands of motor vehicle collisions resulting in injuries are reported in Michigan, leaving many victims dealing with serious pain and suffering. Physical and emotional injuries can be overwhelming, especially when they are caused by someone else’s reckless actions. Some of the most common factors contributing to motor vehicle accidents in our state include:

  • Distracted driving: This occurs when drivers take their attention away from the road, whether it's due to texting, adjusting the radio, or engaging in conversations with passengers. Such distractions can significantly impair reaction time and decision-making.
  • Speeding: Exceeding the speed limit or driving too fast for road conditions increases the severity of accidents. Higher speeds reduce the driver's ability to react to sudden changes, making it more likely for accidents to occur.
  • Driving under the influence of drugs: Whether it's alcohol or illicit substances, impaired judgment and response times lead to dangerous driving behavior, putting both the driver and others at risk.
  • Using a mobile phone while driving: Even hands-free devices can divert attention from the road. The cognitive distraction of phone conversations or texting can result in delayed responses to traffic signals and obstacles.
  • Falling asleep at the wheel: Fatigue can severely impair a driver's ability to stay alert and focused. Drowsy driving is a serious issue, as it can lead to catastrophic outcomes if the driver dozes off while behind the wheel.
