Car Accidents in Michigan

Macomb, MI – Car Crash on Lodge Dr near Webb Dr Ends in InjuriesIn Michigan, motor vehicle accidents occur daily, often leading to serious injuries that require immediate medical attention. Many individuals find themselves hospitalized with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, and broken bones as a result of these collisions. Unfortunately, over 80 percent of the vehicle accidents reported across the state involve some form of negligence. Common factors contributing to auto collisions in Michigan include:

  • Distracted drivers: Many accidents occur when drivers are engaged in activities such as texting, talking on the phone, or using in-car entertainment systems, taking their attention away from the road.
  • Failure to yield the right-of-way: This occurs when drivers do not give priority to other vehicles or pedestrians as required by traffic laws, often leading to dangerous situations and collisions.
  • Speeding: Exceeding the speed limit or driving too fast for road conditions significantly increases the likelihood of accidents, as it reduces the time available to react to sudden changes on the road.
  • Changing lanes without checking: Many drivers neglect to check their blind spots or use their mirrors when changing lanes, which can lead to collisions with vehicles that are already in those lanes.
  • Drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs: Impairment from substances greatly affects a driver’s judgment, coordination, and reaction time, making them more likely to be involved in serious accidents.
