Car Accidents in Michigan

Monroe, MI – Two Killed in Auto Wreck on E Monroe RdIn Michigan, motor vehicle accidents occur daily, often resulting in serious injuries that require immediate medical attention. We see countless individuals hospitalized with injuries such as brain trauma, spinal cord damage, and broken bones. Unfortunately, over 80 percent of vehicle collisions reported statewide involve some form of negligence. Common factors in auto accidents across our state include:

  • Distracted drivers: This often involves activities such as texting, talking on the phone, or eating while driving, all of which divert attention from the road and increase the likelihood of a collision.
  • Failure to yield the right-of-way: Many accidents occur when drivers do not give way to others, especially at intersections or when merging, leading to dangerous situations.
  • Speeding drivers: Exceeding the speed limit reduces a driver's ability to react quickly to sudden changes on the road, increasing the severity of accidents when they occur.
  • Changing lanes without looking: Failing to check blind spots or signal before changing lanes can lead to unintended collisions with vehicles that are already occupying that space.
  • Drunk or drugged drivers: Operating a vehicle under the influence significantly impairs judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it one of the leading causes of serious accidents on our roads.
