Sage Township, MI (August 6, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident was reported in Gladwin County on Saturday, August 3. Authorities were called to the scene at around 9:25 p.m.
Official reports indicate that a 41-year-old man was driving an Amish horse-drawn buggy southbound on North Bard Road. At the same time, a 68-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Dodge Ram Promaster city van behind the buggy. As they proceeded through the area and just north of Sullivan Road, the Ram crashed into the rear of the buggy. The driver of the buggy was injured in the crash and transported to MyMichigan Health Medical Center in Midland for emergency treatment of injuries. The driver of the Ram was also transported to the hospital for care. Authorities believe the alcohol played a role in the accident. The driver of the Ram was later arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
