Emmet Co., MI – Woman Loses Life in Hit-&-Run Crash on US-31

Emmet County, MI (August 6, 2024) - A fatal motor vehicle accident reported in Emmet County on Monday morning claimed one person’s life. The collision took place at around 7:20 a.m. on August 5.

Official reports indicate that a 48-year-old woman from Colorado was jogging on the shoulder of the roadway near southbound US Highway 31 and Luce Road. For unknown reasons, she was struck by a black Dodge pickup truck. The Dodge pickup truck fled the scene of the crash without stopping. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased as a result. Authorities later located the involved vehicle and took the driver, a 25-year-old man from Cheboygan, into custody. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
