Shelby Twp., MI – Fatal Car Crash on M-53 near 22 Mile Rd

Shelby Twp., MI (June 7, 2024) – A fatal car accident in Michigan reported on M-53 claimed the lives of two people. The accident took place at around 12:50 p.m. on June 6.

According to official reports, a 33-year-old man was driving a vehicle southbound on Michigan 53. For reasons unknown, he crashed into the rear end of multiple cars in a construction zone near 22 Mile Road. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway, causing severe delays in the area. An 88-year-old female and a 63-year-old female were both fatally injured. The two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. One person was transported to an area hospital for medical care. The driver of the at-fault vehicle was placed under arrest and is currently facing two charges for a moving violation causing death. The accident is currently being investigated.
