Newport, MI (April 21, 2024) – Two children lost their lives in a fatal accident in Michigan yesterday that left more than a dozen people injured. The incident occurred during the afternoon hours on Saturday, April 20.
According to official reports, a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it drove through the wall of the Swan Boat Club located in Monroe County at around 3:30 p.m. After entering the premises, the vehicle proceeded for approximately 25 feet before coming to a stop. The vehicle struck multiple victims at the location. Two children, who were identified as an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, were both fatally injured. The victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Fifteen other victims were treated for injuries on site. A total of nine of the victims, identified as six adults and three children, were transported to area hospitals for emergency care by ambulance. Other victims were transported by private vehicles to local hospitals for medical treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
