Warren, MI (April 16, 2024) – A minor four-car hit-and-run crash on the northbound lanes of I-75, just south of East Holly Road, turned fatal on Saturday afternoon, April 13. The incident occurred within a construction zone at around 1:15 p.m.
According to reports from the Detroit Regional Communication Center, the initial collision prompted the four occupants involved to exit their vehicles and gather in the middle of the roadway near East Holly Road to exchange information. However, during this process, another driver collided with the rear of the last vehicle involved, causing a second crash.
The ensuing chain reaction collision resulted in the three pedestrians being struck. One pedestrian suffered a severe compound fracture, receiving urgent medical attention from troopers at the scene, who applied a tourniquet before rushing them to a nearby hospital. A 24-year-old victim, who has not been identified to the public, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased by authorities. One additional victim was transported to a local hospital for further care. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing.
Our thoughts go out to those harmed as a result of this collision.
We offer our sympathies to the family of the pedestrian killed in this crash.
