Breckenridge, MI (March 7, 2024) – In Breckenridge early Wednesday morning, a house explosion followed by a fire claimed the life of a woman and left two others injured. The incident, reported around 4:00 a.m. on March 5, occurred on Chestnut Street in the village of Breckenridge, as confirmed by Gratiot County Sheriff Mike Morris.
According to official reports, a home located in the 700 block of Chestnut Street exploded during the early morning hours. Firefighters and police rushed to the scene of the incident to provide assistance. A man and child involved in the explosion were injured. The two victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care. A woman involved in the incident sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
