Leighton Twp., MI – Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash on US-131

Leighton Twp., MI (February 26, 2024) – A 72-year-old woman lost her life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Layton Township. The incident was reported to the Michigan State Police at approximately 7:55 p.m. on February 22.

According to reports from the police, a 72-year-old woman was driving a car on US Highway 131 just north of Wayland. For unknown reasons, she began experiencing tire problems, which caused the vehicle to come to a stop. The woman exited her vehicle and was struck by a Buick Lacrosse. The woman was severely injured in the accident. Despite medical efforts, she died from her injuries. At this time, the accident is under investigation.
