It is well known that pedestrians struck by large motor vehicles are likely to have serious injuries and that thousands of pedestrians are fatally injured each year. In Michigan, the number of pedestrian fatalities reached an all-time high in 2021, rising from 175 in 2020 to 183 in 2021. This is an increase of nearly 5%. If you or someone close to you was hurt in a pedestrian accident, you might be entitled to file a claim. Experiencing the unexpected loss of a family member will always be difficult.
A spouse may have to leave their life partner behind, a child may grow up without a parent, and a family may lose its primary source of emotional and financial support. Wrongful deaths are always hardest on those closest to the victim, and families can find their lives completely turned upside down. The pain is only worsened when another person's careless, irresponsible, or negligent actions are responsible for the wrongful death.
The victim's family may have grounds to pursue a lawsuit for damages against the person responsible if their loved one's death was due to another person's negligence or wrongful action. Unlike personal injury claims, wrongful death claims are brought by the personal representative of the deceased's estate in order to make the family whole.
You and your family may be entitled to compensation if a member of your family dies as a result of someone else's carelessness.
