Hartford, MI (February 8, 2024) – A woman lost her life, and a man was left injured following an incident involving carbon monoxide exposure. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7.
According to official reports, authorities located a vehicle parked in the Hartford Council for Recreation baseball field, which is located on Lincoln Street in the area near East East Street. Authorities arrived at the scene and located two people inside unconscious. Firefighters attempted to access the two individuals by breaking the window. The victims, a 19-year-old female, and a 20-year-old man were pulled from the vehicle by firefighters. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man was severely injured and rushed to an area hospital for emergency care. Authorities believe that the vehicle had experienced muffler problems, which led to the carbon monoxide entering the vehicle. At this time, investigations are underway.
We hope the injured man recovers quickly.
