Alpena, MI – Two Killed in TBTA Bus Crash on US-23 N

Alpena, MI (February 7, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident was reported in Alpena on Tuesday that claimed the lives of two victims. The accident occurred at approximately 12:55 p.m. on February 6.

According to reports provided by the Alpena Police Department, a two-vehicle collision involving a Thunder Bay Transportation Authority bus and a black pickup truck occurred on US Highway 23 North near Hamilton Road. Authorities rushed to the scene and immediately shut down the roadway. The driver of the pickup truck was severely injured in the crash. The victim was rushed to MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena and admitted in critical condition. The passenger in the pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver of the van was transported to MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena with severe injuries. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the van passed away after arriving. At this time, investigations are ongoing.
