Detroit, MI (January 10, 2024) – The Farmington Hills Police Department responded to the scene of a car crash that took place early Monday morning and claimed one person’s life. Calls for help were received at around 2:00 a.m. on January 8.
Official reports indicate that a box truck and a BMW SUV collided head-on while on the westbound side of Interstate 696. The incident prompted authorities to shut down the roadway near Orchard Lake. Both of the vehicles caught on fire as a result of the crash. The Michigan Department of Transportation reported extensive delays in the area. The driver of the BMW, who has not been identified to the public, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is being investigated by the Farmington Hills Police Department, the Michigan State Police, and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
