Macomb, MI (December 20, 2023) – The Michigan State Police assisted local firefighters at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that took place in Macomb and ended in injuries. Calls for help came in at around 9:30 p.m. on December 19.
Local news sources indicate that a collision between vehicles took place on 21 Mile Road near North Avenue. As a result of the collision, one of the vehicles caught on fire and began smoking. The Macomb Township Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the fire. An unknown number of victims were injured and had to be transported to area hospitals for medical care following this crash. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
We hope the injured victims recover quickly.
In Michigan, there were 6% fewer accidents overall in 2018 than there were in 2022. Moreover, the number of road deaths increased by 15% throughout that time. The state had 905 fatal automobile accidents in 2018 compared to 1,053 fatal accidents in 2022. This is a rise of around 16% percent, meaning that these tragic incidents appear to worsen yearly.
What's worse is that the negligence or carelessness of other motorists on the road causes the lion's share of these accidents. But despite that fact, all too many victims must face the hardships of mounting medical bills, painful injuries and treatments, long-term trauma, and more, even when their losses were caused by a crash that wasn't their fault.
That said, victims and their families may have legal recourse in the aftermath of an injury-causing collision. When victims and their loved ones consult an experienced attorney, they may find that they're eligible for an array of damages to cover their economic and non-economic damages.
If your claim cannot be resolved via negotiation with an insurance company, a skilled lawyer will represent you in court. It might be challenging to establish your case on your own, even if you are positive that you are qualified to pursue a compensation claim. For this reason, you must hire a skilled attorney to represent you at every stage of the claim process.
Insurance companies will take all reasonable measures to safeguard their own interests. These companies aim to compensate you as little as possible. A seasoned auto accident lawyer will fight to ensure you obtain the amount you are due. If you were hurt in a vehicle accident, you should speak with a Michigan personal injury attorney immediately. You likely feel overwhelmed by your recovery and ongoing injuries and may be unsure of the next best steps to take.
