Kalamazoo Co., MI – I-94 Accidents near MM 66 & 72 End in injuries

Kalamazoo Co., MI (December 19, 2023) - A series of motor vehicle accidents in Kalamazoo County prompted authorities to shut down multiple lanes on Interstate 94 during the afternoon hours. At around 3:10 p.m. on December 18, local news sources reported that multiple vehicle collisions occurred on Interstate 94 between mile marker 66 and mile marker 72 at the exit for Mattawan.

According to official reports, the incident prompted the closure of the eastbound side of the interstate for approximately four hours as emergency crews worked to remove the involved vehicles. Multiple people involved in the accident suffered injuries and had to be transported to local medical facilities for further care. Several of the accidents involve semi-trucks in large commercial vehicles. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
