Jackson, MI (December 17, 2023) – Emergency crews confirmed that one man lost his life in a fire incident that occurred in Jackson on Saturday morning, December 16. Just after 3:00 a.m., the police and firefighters out of Jackson were called to the scene of a major fire incident on Spirea Court. Authorities confirmed that a fire broke out on the sixth floor of an apartment complex located in the 3300 block of the roadway.

Firefighters with the Jackson City Fire and Summit Township Fire Departments responded to provide assistance. Emergency crews battled the blaze for an extended period. Multiple apartments sustained water and smoke damage as a result of the incident. Upon entering the structure, authorities located a 66-year-old male with severe fire injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
