Car Accidents in Detroit

Detroit, MI - Injury-Causing Collision on I-275 After M-14Coping with the fallout of an automobile accident in Michigan is often unpleasant and difficult, but there are essential steps to protect your legal rights in the aftermath, regardless of the details surrounding your crash.

First and foremost, all drivers in Michigan should be aware that every collision resulting in injuries or property damage above $1,000 requires filing a police report. Information about the accident site, any witnesses, and the relevant insurance companies will all be included in the police report.

After an accident, it's critical to see a doctor very soon, even if you don't think you're seriously hurt. Even what may seem like modest injuries at first may drastically alter a person's standard of living. As soon as they experience any injury or relevant symptom, victims should start keeping meticulous documents in order to establish that the occurrence was the primary cause of their issues. In a similar vein, you should contact your doctor immediately if you have any new symptoms or injuries after starting treatment. Document how frequently and in what ways the accident has altered your financial situation, emotional state, and course of treatment.

Keep in mind that you may need to engage in both physical therapy and occupational therapy, in addition to frequent examinations with your primary care physician, in order to fully recover from an injury. In addition, following through with treatment is crucial to the success of your claim and any potential legal action. Insurance adjusters in Michigan sometimes argue that an accident victim who frequently has to postpone medical visits did not sustain serious injuries and is thus not entitled to benefits or compensation.
