Detroit, MI (December 4, 2023) - Multiple individuals were hospitalized in an accident on I-96 in Detroit, and authorities suspect alcohol played a part in the crash, per the latest details released on Monday.
Officials said the collision occurred at about 3:30 a.m. in the morning on Thursday close to Telegraph Road. One car was rear-ended by another traveling westward due to excessive speed, according to the police. Firefighters from the Detroit Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free the driver of the second vehicle, and there were major injuries to the passenger of the car that was rear-ended. The first driver, a 27-year-old from Southfield, was allegedly intoxicated when the accident occurred, prompting the pursuit of a warrant to collect blood samples. They are being held in custody by the police at this time. The passengers of that vehicle were also hurt, though they are expected to recover. No further details were released, but an investigation is ongoing.
The injured victims and their families are in our thoughts at this time.
Every ten to fifteen seconds, somewhere in the United States, an automotive accident occurs, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Most personal injury lawsuits now being examined in our courts are linked to automobile accidents, which is unsurprising given the dismal statistics for Michigan and the United States.
If you've been in a car crash, even if the facts are straightforward and you don't think you're gravely harmed, you should still see a legal professional. Evidence suggests that having legal representation may boost a plaintiff's financial recovery in court. Many victims, understandably, are concerned about how much it would cost to hire an attorney. However, most attorneys specializing in personal injuries work on a contingency fee basis.
You should probably see an attorney if you or a loved one has suffered a personal injury. Your attorney will serve as your primary representation in all dealings with the insurance company and any other involved parties. You can trust your lawyer to look into the situation carefully, track down the responsible people, and provide you with a solid case for financial recompense. The information needed might then be gleaned by questioning potential witnesses.
