Mundy Township, MI (December 3, 2023) - Traffic was backed up for miles on northbound U.S. 23 after a trailer slammed into the Maple Road bridge following a wreck in Mundy Township on Friday morning.
The crash was reported around 10:30 a.m., and it led emergency crews to close two lanes of the freeway. All lanes reopened shortly before 1:00 p.m. Friday. Photos from the scene show a semi-trailer torn into multiple pieces right after the stretch where U.S. 23 and I-75 merge. Other debris was scattered all over the freeway, and an oily substance spilled as well. At least two drivers were assessed for injuries at the scene, though their current conditions are unknown, and an investigation is still ongoing.
