Grand Rapids, MI (December 1, 2023) - Drivers of a semi-truck and an SUV are expected to recover after a crash that took place near Knapp Street on Friday.
The semi-truck driver was traveling in the right lane of the highway when they decided to enter a median and turn around, according to Michigan State Police. However, they instead hit a car in the left lane, troopers said. Although it's unknown how many people were traveling in either vehicle, no one was seriously injured in the crash. EMTs did transport both drivers to an area medical center, where they continued to recover. It's unclear if citations or charges will be issued, but an investigation remains active in the meantime.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery.
Thousands of people use Michigan's bustling, multi-lane roadways daily to go to and from work, especially in large cities like Detroit and Lansing. Thus, it should come as no surprise that some of the most congested and hazardous regions in the Great Lakes State may be found on Interstate 75 between Interstate 96 and the intersection with Interstate 94, on Interstate 94 between Vining Road and Telegraph Road, and on Interstate 7 Mile Road.
While speeds of up to 75 mph are legal in Michigan, the vast majority of the state's roadways have 65 mph or 55 mph restrictions posted. In addition, when accidents occur at these greater speeds, everyone involved is far more likely to suffer serious injuries or perhaps die.
It's no secret that the Detroit region has a high rate of serious injuries caused by car crashes. However common automobile accidents may be, those who are injured often face a difficult situation after the fact due to factors including high medical bills, lost wages from time spent recovering, and other costs.
When drivers are at fault for an accident due to their own carelessness, they will frequently attempt to shift the responsibility onto the victims. The at-fault driver's insurance company may attempt to minimize your injuries or give you inadequate compensation.
If you were hurt on a U.S. road due to another driver's carelessness, you should be compensated fairly and equitably. An experienced personal injury attorney in Detroit will take care of the following for you if you choose them:
