Lansing, MI (November 30, 2023) - A school bus accident occurred in Jackson County’s Western School District on Tuesday morning, on Kibby Road near the Reynolds intersection. Two students were taken to the hospital and later released. The bus was reportedly rear-ended by the driver of a van while making a stop at the end of a steep hill. As the roads were icy yesterday morning, police say the crash was largely due to inclement weather. Michigan State Police say they spoke with the driver of the minivan. The driver told them they tried to stop, but couldn’t due to the ice on the hill. MSP added that an investigation is still active and ongoing.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their complete recovery at this time.
In the United States, there is a car accident every ten seconds, as per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The majority of personal injury claims evaluated by our courts these days are vehicle accidents, which should come as no surprise considering the depressing statistics we've seen in Michigan and around the country.
You should see a lawyer after a car accident, even if you believe your injuries are minor and the circumstances surrounding the collision are straightforward. Research indicates that plaintiffs with lawyers representing them get larger damages, notwithstanding victims' concerns that paying for legal counsel may deplete their finances. The majority of personal injury attorneys take cases on a contingent fee basis, which means they only get compensated if their client wins.
In a number of different scenarios, obtaining legal counsel often proves to be advantageous for the victims affected. Your attorney will negotiate on your behalf with the insurance company and any other parties involved. You may rely on your attorney to thoroughly examine your case, determine the parties who are at blame, and present an explanation for the compensation you feel you are entitled to get. Two probable next steps in this course of action are conducting interviews with prospective witnesses and gathering pertinent information first.
