Riding a motorcycle along Michigan's 3,288 miles of coastline is a popular recreation. The Great Lakes State is replete with breathtaking landscapes. Unfortunately, the frequency of motorcycle accidents is all too high across our state. According to the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (OHSP), there were 2,722 motorcycle-related traffic incidents in Michigan in a single year.
Two of the best ways for Michigan motorcyclists to remain secure and reduce their risk of serious crash-related injuries are to always wear a helmet with a face shield or protective eyewear and to be aware of their surroundings. Tragically, these accidents continue to occur, especially because motorcyclists are significantly more vulnerable than vehicles.
