Detroit, MI (November 26, 2023) - Police say that an intoxicated driver caused a rear-end collision on I-96 early Sunday morning, and a man from Southfield is now in custody.
Just before 3:30 a.m. in the morning, the Michigan State Police fielded several reports of an accident involving two cars and injuries on westbound I-96 close to Telegraph Road. Two heavily damaged vehicles were discovered when the troopers arrived. According to initial reports, the motorist who collided with the other car was a 27-year-old male from Southfield who was allegedly speeding. Firefighters from Detroit used the Jaws of Life to free the driver of the car that was rear-ended. EMTs took that victim to the hospital in serious condition. After the incident, authorities found that the Southfield motorist was also intoxicated. Prosecutors are now reviewing the charges.
