Detroit, MI (November 2, 2023) - After their boat sank in the Detroit River while they were fishing, four individuals were rescued from the water and treated by EMTs.
On Thursday, at around 5:30 p.m., the rescue operation took place on the city's eastern side. The four victims were promptly extracted from the icy water by authorities and are said to be in stable condition. Authorities say the victims were all treated by emergency medical technicians for hypothermia.
According to the Chief of the Detroit Fire Department, James Harris, the authorities received a complaint about a boat that was sinking in the Detroit River. Upon their arrival, the authorities discovered that there were four adult males who were fishing at the time of the accident.
Authorities were unable to determine the cause of the boat's crash and capsize, although they say there were witnesses to the scene. Officials are continuing to investigate in the interim.
