Tuscola, MI (October 31, 2023) - On Friday, a sugar beet truck was involved in an accident that left two men wounded in Tuscola County.
The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office reports that at about 10:50 a.m. on Friday, October 27th, a commercial pickup truck and a beet carrier collided on M-81 and Colwood Road in Almer Township.
According to the sheriff's office, a beet hauler traveling behind a truck driven by a 28-year-old male from Vassar was unable to stop in time to prevent a collision as the pickup was traveling west on M-81 and about to turn north onto Colwood Road.
The 58-year-old male driver of the beet truck attempted to escape the collision by swerving around the pickup. The truck, however, had already begun to make its turn. Both the beet truck driver and the pickup truck passenger, a man in his 50s from the Caro region, sustained injuries and were brought to a nearby hospital.
Their current conditions and the specific details surrounding the wreck are still unknown, but officers are continuing to investigate at this time.
Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones. We hope for their full recovery.
