Detroit, MI (October 30, 2023) - Authorities responded to a serious accident on Detroit's Southfield Freeway on Monday morning, October 30, according to local authorities.
The Michigan State Police Second District received complaints of a three-car collision on northbound Michigan Highway 39 at Joy Road just after 5:00 a.m. on Monday. Per the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, a Mazda driver rear-ended an Audi, inflicting significant damage, before forcing the Audi into a Nissan.
One of the drivers, a 25-year-old woman, was "trapped inside" her vehicle. The Detroit Fire Department and EMS had to free her so that they could get her to the hospital to treat her life-threatening injuries. All northbound lanes of M-39 were shut down immediately after the accident, though an investigation is still ongoing.
