Auburn Hills, MI (October 26, 2023) - Police are investigating a crash that killed a young woman and injured several other people along I-75 in Oakland County.
According to the Auburn Hills Police Department, it appears a single vehicle with four people inside was involved in the crash, at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, on southbound I-75 near Joslyn Road in Auburn Hills.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2004 Ford Escape driven by a 27-year-old Flint woman left the roadway and went into the grassy median, where it rolled over.
Police said an 18-year-old Flint woman was ejected from the SUV and suffered life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to McLaren Oakland Hospital, along with the three other people in the vehicle.
At the hospital, the 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead, police said. Her name was not immediately released. The driver and one passenger, a 27-year-old Flint woman, were treated for their injuries and later released. Police said another passenger, a 19-year-old Flint man, was also treated for injuries and was expected to be released.
It's unclear at this time what led to the crash, which remains under investigation by the Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigations Team (SOCCIT).
