Detroit, MI (October 16, 2023) - Almost all left traffic lanes of westbound I-696 were shut down by a multi-car wreck and apparent rear-end collision on Monday, October 16, and the Detroit Police Department was called to the site of the incident to investigate.
The accident shut down a portion of the highway ahead of the Van Dyke Avenue exit, according to a report from the Michigan Department of Transportation for Macomb County. Just before 8:30 a.m., the Detroit Police Department and the Michigan State Police arrived at the site and started their inquiry.
The Detroit Police Department also sought emergency medical help, as injuries were apparently sustained by at least one person. However, it is presently unclear how many people were hurt.
Detectives from the DPD are completing their inquiry and looking for any witnesses who may have further information. No new information has been given since then.
We are thinking about the injured victims and their loved ones at this time, and we hope for their full recovery.
