Detroit, MI - Woman Dies, Several Hurt in Hit-and-Run on Seymour Ave

Detroit, MI (October 13, 2023) - A woman died from her injuries after the vehicle she was riding in crashed, and the driver fled the scene.

Detroit police said the incident occurred at 1:50 a.m. on in the 14100 block of Seymour Avenue. The woman was a passenger in a black Dodge Durango when it collided with a fallen tree on the road.

The driver fled the incident, leaving Perry and three other seriously wounded passengers behind.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated. To determine whether a referral to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office is justified, the Department's investigation will involve a thorough forensic analysis of the vehicle and its components. The investigation by the Department will also look into whether or not any other variables contributed to the crash.

Officers are continuing to investigate at this time.
