Grattan Township, MI (October 11, 2023) - The Kent County Sheriff's Office reports that a woman was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a local roadway in Grattan Township.
The incident occurred at around 6:40 on Wednesday morning. Deputies eventually stopped a Jeep driven by a 47-year-old Belding man on 5 Mile Road.
A woman was crossing the street when the Jeep turned onto Parnell Avenue and hit her. The 76-year-old Grattan Township woman was knocked to the ground by the driver. She suffered critical injuries, but the deputies reported that her condition was stable at a nearby medical center.
The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, but an investigation is still active in the interim.
