Detroit, MI (October 3, 2023) - After being struck by a vehicle on Detroit's west side on Tuesday morning, a teenager is in serious condition in the hospital.
According to an official report, it occurred just before 8:30 a.m. as two teenage boys were crossing the roadway at Evergreen and Plymouth Roads. Per early reports, one of the teens managed to evade the driver, while the other was struck and dragged around 100 feet. The suspect was in a red-colored vehicle and fled from the scene.
Officials said they suspect the motorist may have purposefully struck the teen, even though they first investigated the incident as a hit-and-run.
The victim's age was not disclosed, and it's not apparent whether any arrests have been made.
Witnesses are asked to contact the 6th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department with additional information. An investigation remains ongoing.
