Detroit, MI (September 29, 2023) - At least one person was hurt in a crash involving two or three vehicles that occurred on I-696 in Detroit on Thursday morning, September 28.
The incident occurred around 5:40 a.m. on westbound Interstate 696 at the exit to Mound Road. The scene of the accident was cordoned off once deputies from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office arrived, and the crash apparently shut down all lanes of the roadway. However, authorities did not release specific details about the events immediately preceding the wreck.
Although emergency medical responders and fire rescue teams were also sent to the scene to evaluate the victims and bring those seriously injured to the hospital, it is not yet known how severe their injuries are or what their current conditions are.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the Detroit Police Department are continuing their inquiry into the wreck at this time. Deputies and local law enforcement are now interviewing potential witnesses.
