Detroit, MI (September 27, 2023) - On Wednesday morning, a semi-truck crashed and rolled on a roadway in the Metro Detroit area, causing several injuries.
According to the Michigan State Police, the incident occurred shortly before noon on the west side of Detroit when a driver allegedly attempted to enter into the left lanes of westbound I-96 at M-39.
The sedan's driver "tried to beat the semi in the right lane from the shoulder," per an MSP statement. After the impact between the truck and the sedan, the sedan turned over and slammed into another vehicle, which had also rolled.
Both vehicles' occupants were brought to the hospital, where their conditions were reported as stable, as stated by authorities. The number of those involved was unclear. The accident forced the closure of the highway for several hours as MSP examined the scene.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured and loved ones at this time.
