Grand Rapids Township, MI (September 2, 2023) - Interstate 96 in Grand Rapids Township was closed after a rollover crash early Saturday morning but has now reopened.
At around 8:50 a.m., officers from the Kent County Sheriff's Office were sent to the scene of an accident on westbound Interstate 96 near Knapp Street.
A deputy responded to an accident and discovered a vehicle lying on its side in a ditch, having crashed into some trees. Dispatch requested extraction, though the number of people needing to be treated or rescued is unclear at this time.
At least three injuries were reported; however, police could not specify the severity of those injuries. Officers are still looking into what caused the collision, but they haven't found a reason yet.
