Detroit, MI (August 30, 2023) - On Wednesday, August 30, numerous automobiles crashed at the Highway 10 exit from westbound I-696, blocking practically all left lanes.
Immediately after, Detroit Police Department officers arrived. The event, which involved at least two or three cars, reportedly stopped most of the left-hand traffic lanes of the freeway in the Oakland County region, as reported by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Around 4:30 p.m., law enforcement officers from Detroit and around Michigan arrived at the site to begin their investigation.
The Detroit Police Department has also sought emergency medical help; however, it is unclear how many people were hurt.
DPD detectives are finishing up witness interviews and analyzing the results of their investigation. Meanwhile, no new information has surfaced.
Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the wounded and their loved ones.
Although it may be stressful and particularly difficult to deal with the aftermath of an automobile accident in Michigan, there are some easy steps you can take to protect your legal rights.
First, motorists in Michigan should be aware that a police report must be filed if the expenses associated with an accident exceed $1,000. Information about the accident site, any witnesses, and the relevant insurance companies will all be included in the police report.
Even if you think your injuries are minimal after an accident, you should be checked out by a doctor straight soon. Because the symptoms of most injuries might take many hours or days to manifest, even relatively small injuries can have a devastating effect on the victim's quality of life.
In addition, victims who wish to show that the accident was the source of their injuries should start keeping detailed records at the first indication of damage or associated symptoms. You should also make an appointment with your doctor if your condition worsens or you experience an injury after starting therapy. In the weeks after your collision, it is important to keep note of how frequently the injury happens, how much therapy costs, how much pain you are in, and how your treatment plan has evolved.
Keep in mind that you need to engage in both physical and occupational therapy, in addition to frequent visits with your primary care physician, in order to fully heal from an injury. Adherence to medical advice is crucial to the success of your claim and any potential legal action. Accident victims who reject medical care or who continually postpone doctor's visits, for example, are often told by insurance adjusters in Michigan that they are not eligible for benefits or reimbursement.
