Chesterfield Township, MI (August 29, 2023) - At around 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, police in Chesterfield Township responded to a call about a man who was reportedly lying on the grass next to Cotton Road, close to the I-94 overpass.

When police arrived, they found the man was already deceased. Investigators from the Chesterfield Township Police Department's Crash Unit and Detective Bureau were sent to the site.

The victim was a 42-year-old local resident of Chesterfield Township. Investigators with the Chesterfield Township Police Department are treating the incident as a hit-and-run accident and are now looking into surrounding circumstances.

Based on preliminary evidence, the suspect car is likely a black 2017 to 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep's right headlight and turn signal will have been damaged in the accident.

The inquiry into the deadly accident remains ongoing in the interim, and no further details were provided.
